I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Spire Global (Luxembourg) in Apr 2021
Interview
The data scientist interview process at Spire is as follows:
- Call with the recruiter (over the phone)
- Call with the hiring manager (head of statistics team)
- Call with the software team (two interviewers + coding challenge sent before the interview)
- Virtual Interview Day (4 interviews)
- Call with VP of General Manager
Although the recruiter told me there might be SOME technical questions in the second step; it was ONLY technical questions!
I felt that I have been tricked! The hiring manager sounded extremely demanding to me.
He was interrupting me all the time when I wanted to explain something. His attention was only to the details. This makes sense, but I wish I knew it before, so I could prepare for it properly! To be honest, it was humiliating for me, and I would definitely not want to work with such a manager in the future!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Recruiter questions: generic questions like: tell me about yourself, why Spire? what size of data have you worked with? which projects you have been working on? and so on....
Hiring manager: tell me about an ML project you have been working on and then he will dig into it to test your knowledge. So you need to know all the basics, assumptions, logic, and terminology regarding that ML technique you want to explain. Why would you use that optimization? why that performance metric? .... He will continue until you fail several times to give a good answer.

5 interviews in total: 1 introductory call with a recruiter, one with the hiring manager and 3 people from the departments in the company. One of last ones included a coding task.
Ghosted by HR after all of that, even after asking for an update.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Spire Global (Luxembourg) in Jun 2022
Interview
I received an e-mail from the HR to schedule a meeting with the Hiring Manager. Unfortunately I was on holiday and so I could not have the interview the following but the HR suggested to have the interview when I am back home and did not push me to have it while on holiday.
After the first interview, they scheduled 5 interviews with different people from the team. All interviews were focusing on Spire's culture with sometime technical questions on project that you worked on.
The process took 2 months in total, mainly because it was the summer and people were taking holidays including myself.
