I applied for a franchise store run by OCO Westend, after submitting my application online I received a phone call inviting me to the store for a face-to-face interview with the store manager and the owner of the franchise. It was a very awkward atmosphere both in the interview and amounts the other current employees in the store and I left already sure that I did not want to work there and I would. It be getting any further in the process anyway. An hour or so later I got a phone call inviting me to a trail shift in a few days time, since I was in need of money I decided to go ahead with the shift and see how it went. Upon arrival the owner gave me an apron, handed me over to a shift supervisor and then announced that he was leaving the store. He did not watch anything I did or interact with me. The supervisor was very nice and really lead me to believe with the easy that they spoke that I had already got the job and this was just a formality. A few days later I received a message through Indeed from the owner, who called me by the incorrect name (I go by a nickname rather than my full name and he had asked me in person what my preferred name was - in the message he called me a totally different nickname variation of my full name to the one I told him that I prefer) and he even spelt that name wrong. The message said that I did not get the job. The entire process down to the last moment was very disrespectful and completely unprofessional. I have come to hear from other people who have had dealings with this person that this is normal behaviour for him and he is not well liked.
