      Starbucks-Barista Interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Starbucks in Oct 2009

      Interview

The assistant manager interviewed me in a very basic manner. I came in and we discussed me work history, both previous and current, as I was looking for a part time job. She asked me why I wanted to work at Starbucks and how I heard about the job opening there. We briefly discussed my responsibilities in my current job. She was basically getting an overall feel for me. The next day I sat down with the store manager in a 1:1 setting for a second interview. She had a book of interview and behavioral questions that we went through one by one. I don't remember what the questions were exactly however to the best of my knowledge each Starbucks uses this interview guide in the process. The interview took about 30-40 minutes and was positive in it's results as I was offered a job as soon as my background check came through, a couple of days later. Be confident when you interview and think about the questions they ask you. If the store manager is serious about hiring good talent, they will understand that you need to think about your answers instead of just blurting out the first thing that comes to mind. Try to keep your answers detailed, but concise. Rambling won't get you far and sometimes it will make you lose sight of your actual answer. If they ask you to talk about a time in your previous job when...and you don't have a scenario that fits it, be honest, don't make something up or try to relate something unrelatable. The work culture was great: enthusiastic and upbeat, clean and orderly and it had a positive vibe. That's what drew me into that store for the interview.
