I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Stop & Shop (Newport, RI) in Sep 2012
Interview
I applied online and then made a follow up call a few days later. They called me back in about 2 weeks to set up an interview. The interview was one on one with the store manager who asked general interview questions and explained the details of the job, and a little about the values of Stop & Shop as a company, I was offered the job on the spot and started within the next week.
Brought a resume in to the interview, was hired on the spot based on prior experience in grocery/cashiering. Was not expecting to be hired on the spot. They explained the union situation and that was about it.
Very quick interview. Interviewer was friendly. Asked about availability and stressed the importance of stop and shop being a union. You will be hired as long as you are friendly polite and can demonstrate a positive attitude towards customers. Experience a plus.
I met with the store manager at the store. The interview was very easy and informative. We went over their benefits and what is like to work there. I had been a cashier before so I knew what would have been expected.
