Interview
I interviewed at Stord over a period of 3 weeks. Pretty standard for a startup in growth mode. They will answer any hard questions that you may have when joining a startup.
1. Phone Screen with recruiter - General questions such as "Why are you looking for a new role?". They will also ask you about your previous experience. General conversation flow.
2. Phone Call with Design Director. Next, the recruiter will schedule a call with the Design Director and get a bit more specific about your experience and how you like to design.
3. Take home design challenge. You will get a design a simple challenge for you to work through.
4. Submit take home. Once the team looks at your presentation, the recruiter will follow up again to schedule your onsite.
6. Onsite has white boarding priority with PM, 1:1 with senior product designer, review your take home design challenge. It is about 5 one-hour interviews.
7. Once they see that you are a good fit on the team, they will ask for references and talk about offers.
The recruiter will do their best to fit you in their schedule if you have other interviews going on. You can also text the recruiter at anytime for direct communication which was very helpful.

One of the seamless interview processes ever! I had a total of 6 interviews after the initial 2 rounds of HR screening. From start to finish, the process was seamless and the outcome of each interview left me in awe. I wish every company follows this interview process.

Interview
The interview process was completed over Zoom. It started with a 20-minute recruiter screen who then scheduled time for me to meet with the Director of Design. I spoke with the Director for an hour; it was more of a casual conversation of my experience and aspirations than a formalized question-answer interview.
A few days later, I received word from the recruiter that I'd be moving forward with a design challenge to be submitted within the week. The challenge included redesigning a transactional email and creating a presentation to highlight my design thinking. I spent around 5 hours on this work.
A few days after submitting the design challenge to the recruiter, she contacted me to invite me to a final interview. It was made up of four conversations:
1. Culture fit (30 min)
2. Peer Design interview (45 min)
3. Peer Product interview (45 min)
4. Hiring Manager interview (45 min)
The culture interview was pretty question-answer, while the others were more conversational in nature. The Product interview included a collaborative prioritization/whiteboarding exercise.
