While the majority of the two interviews went well and I received an offer, when I made a reasonable counter and discussed the role in greater detail with the recruiter, they said they would take it back to the team to discuss. Instead of countering or acknowledging they couldn't provide more, they abruptly emailed me and told me that the position was no longer available, and their terminology made it abundantly clear that I should not apply again in the future. What a terrible way to treat applicants who politely request additional consideration.
