I applied for a marketing role via an online form. I was contacted by an HR person. The process consisted of 2 phone screens (.5 to 1 hour each), an uncompensated take home assignment (3-5 hours approx), and an onsite visit where I was interviewed by several people and given a second "test" assignment to complete on the spot. The assignments were not difficult, though they were not compensated, time consuming and felt like filler...someone with my resume could clearly complete them. The onsite interviews similarly felt relatively easy, no difficult questions were asked - no curveballs.
I started out very excited about the company, the work and the role. By the end of the process, that feeling was replaced with irritation and frustration. Everyone was polite at first and the senior leader I met was very smart and professional, but in aggregate, this company wasted a whole lot of my time.
I made sure to clarify and discuss my salary expectations, my experience, and my understanding of the role at each step of the lengthy process. After spending hours and hours with these people, none of my correspondence was answered - not even with the bare minimum of a polite "Thank you." I eventually received a call letting me know that they were looking for something/someone totally different. It seems that, either I was used as a test subject for them to sort out what they really wanted, or I was just lied to repeatedly. Either way, there seemed to be no coherent vision here and HR did not seem to know what they were doing.
I would advise other candidates to look elsewhere and not waste their time.
