      Account Executive Interview

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Talkdesk

      Interview

Recruiter, Sales Director, 2.5-hour interview (during the workday) with AE, 2 Sales managers followed by an hour "challenge". A lot of dodging questions about toxic work culture mentioned on glassdoor. Reflecting, I may have pushed too hard to understand what was happening behind the scenes.  For the "challenge" I was asked to complete a 60-minute presentation. 30-minutes for discovery and 30-minutes for a high-level sales presentation. I was told to make it my own and relay relevant information to the recruiter to share with the team before the call to make for an engaging discovery. Out of 6 people that joined the call, zero were prepared (one-word answers, the majority did not participate). It made for a tough discovery lasting maybe 10-minutes (for a 60-minute call). After the presentation, I was told there would be some type of follow-up two days later with either good news, no news, or that they needed a few more days. Cool, that's reasonable. Two days came, and still no news.  Ultimately, after I had to reach out a week later the recruiter shared that they went with someone who has direct CCaaS. If you have ever searched for a new role, you know that is the dreaded feedback that is complete fill in the blank.  As a job seeker, if I dedicate 4.5 hours to engage with your company, I think it is reasonable to expect timeliness (whether a decision has been made or not) and honest and candid feedback. We can live with not being selected, it's part of the process. But ghosting is the absolute highest level of disrespect.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Talkdesk in Jan 2024

      Interview

Had a first screen interview with recruiter, the recruiter was great to talk to, and overall was a really great experience. Then we schedule a call with the manager, and it was also a good conversation, but consist of very tough questions to answer. even though the role description didn’t have any sort of specification about the kind of experience they were requesting, as I was from a competitor, the manager kept asking whether I would agree to reach out to my former companies’ customers. he seemed more interested in my contacts rather than my experience or skills. He mentioned he liked my profile and wanted to schedule a second conversation, but I never heard back nor got any feedback.
