Interview
I had a phone screen interview, but it was a poor experience. The HR recruiter asked me what interested me in the role and why I applied. After I answered the questions, the recruiter went on to explain to me that the hiring manager only wanted someone with significant product experience. The recruiter then said that they didn't think there was alignment between the role and I. Confused, I asked the recruiter to explain further, but not before pointing out multiple instances where the job posting requirements matched exactly with my work experience and education, as was shown on my resume. As the recruiter elaborated further, they said the role also required UX design, but the job posting made no mention of this qualification at all. At that point, I expressed further confusion, and the recruiter explained that the job posting didn't accurately indicate the skills the hiring manager actually wanted in a candidate. It was a frustrating interview experience as it made no sense to me why an organization would have, and keep up, a job posting looking for candidates they didn't want to hire in the first place. The job title should also have been "Product Manager" instead. I wouldn't be surprised if other people applied to the posting, only to be told the role was something else entirely.
