I was referred for a contract-to-hire role. The offices in Irving, TX are beautiful. I was interviewed by a panel of three people. The person who met me at reception was friendly and escorted me to the meeting room where the interview was taking place.
One of the others who was interviewing me greeted me, and we started the interview. The department manager showed up a few minutes into the interview and gave me a perfunctory greeting.
The first interview question was about SAN storage preparation, which was not part of the job description, not something I had on my resume as being part of my work experience. I explained that I wasn't a storage engineer, and that iSCSI storage wasn't something I had ever prepared for use.
After this question, there were technical questions I was more prepared for, but the interviewers barely acknowledged my presence, as they were too busy looking at their laptops and phones and indicating things on their screens to each other to make much eye contact or otherwise engage with me apart from diving deeper into my responses to find "gotcha" moments where a specific command may escape my mind while I was distracted by their general inattention to me.
I was ultimately passed over for the position, but if these are the kind of people who run the support operation, I'm kinda glad to continue looking elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend this company to anybody, since they make you feel unwelcome from the first interview.
