After some written correspondance with one of the scientists in the group (due to me being abroad), I interviewed with the head scientists of the unit and the other scientist that I would be working with the most. They were very friendly and made me feel relaxed,

This was an unpaid position, so there was less pressure. We discussed my interests and their projects and had a good dialoge on how these aligned and how to best use me for the time period I would be there.
pretty easy process, and basically they just want to know you a little bit. Forgot took how long, 15-30 min interview process. Very friendly process, asked about previous experiences .

i was recommend to work with a professor on campus. the interview process was very casual. the professor just wanted to make sure i was invested in the research he was doing. there was no formal interview process though. it was more of a chat and getting to know one another. i enjoyed the low stress environment.
