I interviewed at UWorld (Coppell, TX)

      Interview

I was aware of this company and knew some previous coworkers who was or had been there. The interview process: phone call with recruiter; video interview with hiring manager; in-person panel interview with senior leadership. Phone call with recruiter was pleasant and I moved forward to meet with hiring manager. Did video interview with hiring manager. This was hurried, but I felt they were engaged. We had an engaging interview and I left that interview wanting to learn more about what they wanted to build in the team and the business. The next interview was with a panel of senior leadership - men - in a conference room, minus the actual hiring manager - just felt wrong, There was no interview with any other marketer on the team. No in person meeting with hiring manager or another director in marketing. The panel interview was moved up, back, and then changed again before it actually happened. While I can hold my own in a panel interview - I thought this interview, scheduled during a time the hiring manager was unavailable, and being in a conference room with the senior leadership -- again all men -- spoke volumes about the company, culture, and how women were not in leadership roles in this company. They weren't represented during the interview process or on the website. At the end of time, I was walked to the lobby, told they'd be in touch later that afternoon or by Monday with a decision. Three weeks went by with no communication and then I received a rejection email. Truth be told, I left the interview with a big no for me. I did the perfunctory thank you email but I didn't push hard for follow up. I knew this was not a place I'd feel valued, engaged, or able to try new marketing approaches. Plus, why hide the marketing team? Why weren't they part of the process? I had to drive out 40 mins to the office for an in-person interview and they require 4 days onsite - maybe they were all OOO that day -- but then why not schedule the onsite interview when the company can put its best foot forward?
