I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors in May 2014
Interview
You apply on their website by entering test scores, potential subject areas, and tutoring experience. The first interview is a phone interview. They ask you basic questions like how long you're planning on tutoring, what your availability is like, to elaborate on your tutoring experience, and what subjects you're most comfortable in. Second interview is a webcam interview where they verify the info you gave them on the phone. Then you answer some sample test questions for the subjects that you said you're proficient in. If there's one you struggle with, they advise you to remove it from your subjects and you can add it later.

Question 1
They asked me about the rules for the ACT, like if you get penalized for a wrong answer. I didn't expect that type of question.
I was reached out to via email to set up next steps and schedule the video interview. I had to schedule an online teaching video and do a mock tutoring session type thing.
There was not one only exams that had to be passed to teach certain subjects. It is an AI test so it is set up like an interview. I really liked this process.

If I fully understood the material I was teaching.
You are sent a link to an online video interview. They ask you about previous tutoring experience and the last question was asking you to do a mock-tutoring session. It's very awkward because you have to make up what you want to teach on the spot, but you get unlimited time to think of responses.
