I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors (New York, NY) in Oct 2015
Interview
Started with an application through the website, then phone interview for the first interview, and finally a second interview via webcam through the company's online tutoring program. Both recruiters were very nice and willing to answer any questions I had. This was my first webcam interview, so it was a little awkward to read the interviewer's reaction. I didn't feel confident afterwards because of this, but apparently they thought it went well. I was offered the job less than 48 hours later. Overall, pretty standard as far as interviews go. They ask about your availability, demonstrate your knowledge of the subject, ask for some background info on your skills.

Question 1
Mock consultation: I'm going to be a first grader and read this passage as someone having a difficult time. You will demonstrate how you'd normally coach someone through this.
I was reached out to via email to set up next steps and schedule the video interview. I had to schedule an online teaching video and do a mock tutoring session type thing.
There was not one only exams that had to be passed to teach certain subjects. It is an AI test so it is set up like an interview. I really liked this process.

Question 1
If I fully understood the material I was teaching.
You are sent a link to an online video interview. They ask you about previous tutoring experience and the last question was asking you to do a mock-tutoring session. It's very awkward because you have to make up what you want to teach on the spot, but you get unlimited time to think of responses.
