1 hour phone call with a non recruiter. Then in person interview with 2 people: another EA with a better title and an executive. Phone call was wonderful. One of my best performances. He was incredibly engaging, asked thoughtful questions. Just awesome. Note...not a recruiter. Keep that up VIA. In-person interview. Miserable. The executive was boring but seemed like a sweet man, so I'm ok with the boring. He didn't seem incredibly interested in me being there, however. I really felt for him. We had 30 minutes to get to know each other, and he just was done with me after 10 minutes. Tried to win him over but I just couldn't. I'm pretty ok with the executive interview. Obviously not a great fit. Wasn't my fault. Wasn't his fault. What I do have a problem with is the 2nd person who interviewed me. She was dressed incredibly inappropriately. She was honestly wearing short shorts. I mean, SHORT short shorts that little girls wear. And they were too small for her! It was so incredibly awkward. Throughout the entire interview, she kept on feeling her body. When women wear clothes that are too small for them, they are inclined to touch their bodies more. (Think acne...when you have acne, you are more inclined to touch your face to see if still there.) I'm still telling people about this interview! and it's been 1/2 year. By the way, in no way am I the type to be uncomfortable around people wearing clothing like that. But for a job interview...if I have to spend an hour straightening my hair for you, you gotta wear clothes that fit you! Oh, and she was an EA with far less experience (and education) than me. But she spoke down to me at several points in our conversation. Not cool, Via. Throughout the entire interview, I kept thinking how she must have been hired when Via was a smaller company. They have all the luck! If I take away all of this (the shorts, the speaking down), I would say it was a normal, run-of-the-mill interview with someone I did not click with. But she may have only been recruiting for the one position I applied to. So you likely won't come across her in your interviews. I have the admit that the other people at Via I met left great impressions (even the boring guy!). And it is a very beautiful office (very, very quiet though).
