I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Via Transportation (New York, NY) in Mar 2018
Interview
One mini-project data challenge (7 days allowed), followed by 3 rounds of phone interviews. The project set a business background (expanding the for-hire-vehicle service in New York), and asks you to design a metric for evaluating some business decisions (eg. whether to expand the business in some area.) You need to do some hypothesis testings. The project does take time because you need to program a lot and write a report. After that, they scheduled 3 rounds of phone interviews with the team members.
The overall process took more than a month. I passed all rounds. Then they asked me for two references (I think this is usually the last step before an offer). After that, I received an email alleging that an HR would contact me in the next week.
I received no messages since then....
It does not worth applying, because they showed no respect for my time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How to decide whether the walking distance to the location to get on a taxi is an influential factor to passenger's decision on accepting a taxi trip or not.
pretty fast process in general. first talk to someone on the team to introduce yourself. two rounds of technical interviews. Data challenge. Final onsite for 5 interviews almost back to back
So I only got interviewed one round. That was lucky because it seems like they wasted everyone else time more. They are just trying to seem like they are hiring because they just got IPOed. Don't waste your time talking to them. A very disrespectful company. Seems like their IPO failed as well so I guess it didn't work.
