The first round was a hour-long phone interview, which went fine. However, I am 100% sure that they try to take advantage of candidates in their second round take-home assignment. It is not even close to a regular "take-home assignment", but you have to deal with massive data and generate code and report. They even specifically mentioned the following in their assignment: • Your participation in this data challenge is purely voluntary. • You will not be compensated for the time you spend on the challenge. • The challenge does not constitute productive work for the benefit of Via. It is purely an illustrative exercise to evaluate you as a candidate based on the type of work you might be asked to do if you worked at Via. • Participating in the challenge does not constitute an employment, contractor or consulting relationship of any kind between you and Via. If this isn't fishy, I don't know what isn't.
