I applied online. I interviewed at Via Transportation in May 2019
Interview
I was scheduled for my first introduction call a week after a recruiter reached out to me. I was surprised that the interview was not an introduction call at all- but a case study. I was asked zero questions about my resume, my experience, or even Why Via?
Honestly, I was completely taken off guard by this approach. I have had many interviews in my time, none of which have started with the person on the other line boasting about their previous experience and education without asking me one question about myself. Utterly confusing.

Question 1
Three KPIs a city would want to see in order to hold Via accountable after a probationary period
The role applied to was relatively junior (associate/analyst level). Nevertheless, the process included up to 10 interviews, homeworks, reference checks - it felt quite overblown for a junior role and also not particularly fair to the applying candidates.

Question 1
Asked about key competitors in the German ridepooling space
It was over the phone, questions were behavioral-based however unique to where you had to insert knowledge as well as your own experience. The interviewer was kind and conversational so it made the process of answering questions much calmer
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Via Transportation in Jan 2022
Interview
This was going to be a role I would be losing seniority and pay in, but wanted to branch out into a new field. I spoke to 9 people, only 3 of whom actually seemed to have reviewed my resume and were not preoccupied. Those 3 were great, but I knew I wasn't going to accept an offer after the second interview when I mentioned being interested in how transportation is an equity issue and was told by a tech bro "yeah I guess". It was one of the worst conversations I've ever had. Felt like I was fighting for his attention while he was clearly distracted (I could see his Twitter feed and slack messages reflected on his glasses the whole time). All of the interviewers asked me the same questions (so, "tell me about yourself" 9 times). There seems to be a very clear white tech bro culture. I spoke to one woman, everyone was white. It's pretty clear they don't value racial or educational diversity. Not sure why their VP's have time to interview candidates they won't even be working with?

Question 1
Each interview felt like a phone screening. Any other questions they asked felt like they were crowdsourcing ideas for their own jobs.
