Via is NOTORIOUS for its drawn out interview process that lasts MONTHS. They take pride in this for some odd reason when it doesn’t benefit anybody — definitely not the staff because it inconveniences them with having to shoulder most of the work while they wait for someone, and definitely disrespectful to the candidate who is taking the time to talk to 8-9 people, some of whom you’ll never speak to when you’re at the company (for example, why would an entry level worker at a 1000-person company need to talk to the C-suite leader of their team who literally doesn’t give a flying f.) I would also add that the questions asked by team members really are not that helpful in gaging fit with the team — one interview was mostly about microtransit but this person didn’t even ask me about my working style, strengths and weaknesses. Someone also asked me about my thoughts on congestion pricing. Again, fine to ask for these things but it doesn’t determine whether or not I’d work well with you and vice versa. Via needs to rehaul its hiring process and rethink its strategy on how to ask good questions to determine fit.
