The process was lengthy and I met with many team members across the business including with teams I have had little to no interaction with since starting. This experience allowed me to make connections where I otherwise wouldn't have. Approximately eight interviews with employees of different levels.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Via Transportation
Interview
I applied through an employee referral. I had an initial interview with the hiring manager, then a brief call with a recruiter in NY, then a panel that was a mix of in-person (SF) and virtual. I liked the people I interviewed with and was willing to entertain an offer. I didn't receive an offer and when I asked for feedback (from three separate people) I didn't receive a response. I understand that some companies have policies about providing feedback to candidates, especially before the role has been closed. I waited a few weeks and then followed up as I wanted to keep communication open for future opportunities. Again, no response from all three employees. Very strange and unprofessional experience, especially for a higher level hire as I gave this interview process lots of time and energy. I work in the planning industry and this gave me a horrible impression of the company. I would not recommend working here to a friend and I would not recommend working with them as a vendor. Companies need to realize that recruiting is marketing. And hey, a quick response to an email (even if it's to say you aren't able to offer feedback) goes a long way. We're too old for ghosting.

Asked a lot of specifics about prior work in transportation, my guess was for their advantage, at my expense.
I applied online. I interviewed at Via Transportation in Mar 2024
Interview
Something is seriously wrong with their hiring process.
I had 10 total interviews with Via, 2 of which were in person and included 2 C-suites. Throughout all the interviews I was getting positive feedback and had engaging conversations. They called 2 of my references, had another call with the HM, and then I waited a week to get a very obvious “request for a call” email from the recruiter at which point I knew this was going to be a rejection.
I was told over a call that they went with another candidate and there was no feedback to share. They were apologetic but the entire situation felt like a joke. I spent over 2 months interviewing. The job is still posted on their website so I don't believe they were being truthful, and not providing someone feedback after so much investment is unprofessional.
