I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Via Transportation
Interview
Phone screen process
- Overview of company, what they do who they serve, etc... Will mention that they are currently expanding, usual startup spiel.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Tell me about your experience at X, what did you do there, etc...
- Why did you decide to do experience X?
- Why do you want to work here?
- How would you go about figuring out why a user installed an app but never used it? (seemed like they wanted me to answer their business issue for them...)
--- I tried to ask clarifying questions - to no avail
--- I then tried assumptions - didn't seem to satisfy
--- I finally decided to answer - "user interviews"
General notes
- Person interviewing obviously seemed overworked (I could tell through the phone by their enthusiastic but, frustrated tone)
- They don't know what they are doing - the job description turned into "we are looking for a generalist who will fit anywhere" = not what I signed up for
- When they asked if I had any questions - I was about to ask a question, but they hung up. When I tried calling back, they did't pick up.
Very unprofessional, I wouldn't waste my time if I were you. But I hope this is helpful should you decide to pursue a job here...
