I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Virtu Financial (New York, NY) in Apr 2020
Interview
Overall, it is extremely pleasant. The HR was responsive and fast moving, and even though I could not have an onsite interview due to the pandemic, the interviews were managed extremely well through phone calls and video chats.
First step was the coding test, followed by a quick HR call. Then I had a call with one of the quants regarding my CV and a couple of technical questions. Finally, my virtual 'onsite' consisted of a total of 5 interviews (1 hour each), spanned over 2 days. Each of the calls was about discussing my resume, followed by some brainteasers / technical / programming related questions and then I had the chance to ask the interviewers about the company. Every single interviewer was extremely pleasant and interested in what I had to say. Finally, The final step was a 30 minute chat with Doug Cifu, wherein we talked about my background and also he answered all my questions about the company. The recruiters also organized several calls with the other members of the team once I had the offer to help me decide. Overall a very positive experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Questions about my PhD research, some brainteasers / technical questions. Nothing unexpected. It is more about how you explain the stuff rather than the interviewers trying to trick you by asking some random esoteric question.

Interview
The process began with an online Python test, where I scored 10/10. After that, I had a short 20-minute HR interview including two brain-teaser questions, which went well. The final stage was a one-hour interview focused on discussing my CV and past projects in detail. The process itself felt a bit unstructured, and I believe a misunderstanding during the final interview affected the outcome, as my comments about past applications were misinterpreted as a lack of interest in the role.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Apart from discussing my projects and achievements, they asked two brain-teaser questions — one about calculating when the clock’s hour and minute hands align, and another involving similar logic-based timing problems.
