      Operations Manager Interview

      Nov 3, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Wheels Labs (Los Angeles, CA)

      Interview

1:1 on the phone, then 1:1 at a WeWork office. Hypothetical questions and exercises to show if you know how to do the job already. A data analysis exam was given that takes two hours to complete. You are then asked to drive to a different city to interview.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Wheels Labs (New York, NY) in Sep 2020

      Interview

Had 2 interviews during the process. No follow up from the company despite repeated attempts to follow up after interviews. I had 1 phone screen with the recruiter and 1 video interview with Director of Strategic Operations. Both were very straight forward. A lot of questions about my past experience and what was in my resume.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wheels Labs (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2019

      Interview

Chaotic, unfocused, and lacking unified communication. A Wheels recruiter first reached out to me regarding a different position. I discussed the role with the recruiter. We were aligned on comp. The recruiter went radio silent on me after stating that he would schedule a phone screen with the hiring manager. It took some tactful prodding to get him to finally schedule it. After a phone screen with the hiring manager, they concluded that I was not a fit for that position, but that I'd be a good candidate for Ops Manager. Having interviewed with UberEATS before and knowing these guys come from Uber, Lyft, and the other last-mile transport start-ups, I sensed that this role's compensation would be awful. I reluctantly went forward with the process anyway. A 3rd-party recruiter working on behalf of Wheels told me my final round was at the warehouse in Culver City. It was, in fact, supposed to be at their office in WeHo. This led to a hurried scramble to get the right people to speak with me at the warehouse. I never heard back. I didn't really care at that point.

      Question 1

There was a resource optimization question concerning X vans and Y mechanics across several shifts per day. You're then asked how to solve the problem of suboptimal allocation.
