Recruiter reached out to me. The next round was a second interview with a peer/hiring team. The second interview was disappointing from the start. There was a disengaged energy even during introductions, which set an uncomfortable tone for the rest of the conversation. At the beginning of the call, it was mentioned that more context about the company and role would be shared, but that never happened. The conversation focused entirely on existing background and experience. The prep materials specifically recommended building a workflow using their product and sharing a screenshot during the interview. I came prepared with both, even offered to share the screenshot. When asked what I built and I explained, the energy suggested they were looking for something more extravagant. The rejection feedback referenced a lack of product familiarity, which is hard to understand given that the interview never covered the product, never asked about the prep work completed, and provided none of the context that was promised. There was simply no opportunity given to demonstrate what was later cited as a gap. The prep materials were well put together and set a positive expectation. The actual interview experience did not come close to matching that. Waste of time.
