      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at n8n.io

      Interview

Really smooth - recruiter was very knowledgable. Hiring manager was involved and gave very clear directions. The take-home task was challenging with not a lot of time, but at least the task was really well-defined!

      Interview

The interview felt rushed and unprofessional. The recruiter seemed disengaged, speaking very quickly as if trying to speed through the process, and was chewing gum during the conversation. Overall, the experience was uncomfortable and left a poor impression of the company’s recruitment process.

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at n8n.io in Jul 2023

      Interview

The initial interview for the PM role at n8n fell far below expectations. To start off, the interviewer arrived late to the scheduled call and, instead of an apology, I was promptly informed that the call had to be cut short due to his time constraints. This gave an immediate impression of disorganization and a lack of respect for my time. Rather than a two-way conversation, the call took on the feel of a one-sided, exam-like interrogation, with little to no opportunity for me to ask questions or engage in meaningful dialogue about the company or the role. I felt this process was extremely inefficient, as a good interview should be a mutual exchange of information. To compound the experience, the interviewer appeared distracted throughout our conversation, and I had a distinct impression that he was not actively engaged in our discussion. This became glaringly evident when he asked if I was capable of a task that I had just explained I had accomplished in several previous roles. Furthermore, the interviewer confessed to having internet connection issues. The call was intermittently disrupted, and for a significant portion of our conversation, the interviewer's camera was switched off. This made the interview process even more challenging and disrupted the flow of the conversation. Finally, after nearly half an hour of this awkward exchange, the interviewer disclosed that the company's budget for the role was below the range I had previously communicated. This left me feeling that the entire interview had been a waste of time, given that salary expectations should have been aligned before the interview process began. In summary, my interview experience with n8n was far from positive. There were multiple issues, ranging from time mismanagement to a lack of clear communication, that made the process unproductive and disappointing. I hope the company takes these issues seriously and improves their process for future candidates.

Hi! We are very sorry about the poor interview experience as we are very committed to creating a great experience for anyone that interviews with us. In regards to feeling that the interview felt very one-sided this is very much the opposite of what we are trying to achieve so we will try to look over the way we interview. When it comes to salary, it is true that we do sometimes interview people even if the salary expectation given is slightly outside our range. This is because candidates can include for example the stock/option package in the desired compensation. We are once again sorry about your experience interviewing with n8n and thank you for the detailed feedback in regards to your experience as it will help us improve our process.
