You are on tour with a fellow trip leader in a region that you know well, but that the other trip leader does not. How do you maintain a sense of legitimacy as leaders for your participants?
I was surprised that there weren't really any interview questions at the hiring event. Only opportunities to demonstrate your public speaking skills, work in a group on two brainteaser or problem solving activities, and demonstrate your bike mechanic skills. No questions about your values, work ethic, leadership skills and style, customer service knowledge, etc. I don’t believe these were even discussed during the phone interview.
How would you respond to these "Wince Moments" and then they provide a variety of awkward/uncomfortable moments that you are likely to encounter.
How would you address cliques forming in your group and create an inclusive environment for all students? (along the lines of that)
Mostly, I think that they wanted to see that I was an interactive and creative person who connects well to children and who respects children.
They explained scenarios in detail that I might encounter as a trip leader, and I had to explain how I would deal with the difficulties involved.
