21c Museum Hotels was founded by art collectors and preservationists Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson with the mission of sharing innovative contemporary art with the public. The first property opened in downtown Louisville, KY in 2006 combining a boutique hotel, restaurant and contemporary art museum dedicated to the art of today and open free of charge to the public. 21c quickly became an economic driver and an oasis where art challenges, amuses and provokes new ideas.
Today, 21c operates in 9 cities (Louisville and Lexington, KY, Durham, NC, Oklahoma City, OK, Bentonville, AR, Cincinnati, OH, Nashville, TN, Kansas City, MO and Chicago, IL). The company also has several additional locations under development including St. Louis, MO.
