Who is Bill Gosling?
Believe it or not, there is no Bill Gosling. Or at least, not in the way you would expect. Our name wasn’t derived from some important man in our firm’s history. In fact, it wasn’t any man that inspired our name at all: it was geese.
You read that right. Inspired by the Gung Ho! principles on “The Gift of the Goose” quite literally (Bill as in a goose’s beak, and Gosling as in a young goose), we treasure teamwork above anything else. Where other organizations may refer to themselves as more of a family than an organization, we consider ourselves to be more of a flock, flying in unison towards the horizon.
Beyond the Native American wisdom that inspired the “Gift of Geese” lays actual scientific evidence of coordination and teamwork seemingly being second nature to these fascinating birds. Their iconic V-flying formation isn’t only nice to look at, for example, the way they are arranged allows for them to create more lift for their neighbors, making the flight easier. Injured geese are singled out and taken care of. Leadership (the position at the tip of the V) is rotated among all the members of the flock. They even honk at one another during long flights, which studies surmise to be a way for them to encourage their fellows on long flights. The flock’s flight pattern itself doesn’t change all that much, owing to the continuity provided by the close correspondence between the older members and the goslings that will one day take the reins of the flock. Put simply, “The Gift of the Goose” is… well, other geese.
So if, like us, you appreciate the charm and the value not just in flying high, but also in flying together, then Bill Gosling might just be the place for you.
