Description Fort Bend County, an 869 –square-mile stretch of rolling terrain bordered by the Brazos and San Bernard rivers, is located in the Houston metropolitan area of southeast Texas.
It was settled in the early 1820’s when Stephen F. Austin brought a group of colonists from New Orleans to pursue land grants from the newly established Mexican government.
Today, the area is home to more than 600,000 people in what has been dubbed the most ethnically diverse county in the nation. According to the 2010 Census, Fort Bend County was 19 percent Asian, 24 percent Latino, 21 percent African-American, and 36 percent Anglo.
