Horizon's mission is to support and promote the health, independence and self-worth of individuals and families in Central Virginia by providing a continuum of community-based prevention, early intervention, aftercare, and psychosocial rehabilitation services for persons affected by mental health, developmental disabilities, substance use and co-occurring disorders.
For over 50 years, Horizon has been the leading and largest provider of behavioral health services in Central Virginia. Since its founding, Horizon has consistently expanded to meet the evolving needs of the community by launching outpatient programs, developing housing for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and securing key grants for initiatives like School-Based Services and SAMHSA-funded treatment programs. Today, Horizon remains committed to delivering a comprehensive range of behavioral health services designed to support and strengthen the Central Virginia community.
