DoveLewis is different than most veterinary hospitals, and our team of 200+ employees is proud of those differences. 1. We aren’t “owned” by anyone. DoveLewis is a nonprofit organization that was founded 50 years ago by local veterinarians and pet owners. Our staff, including management and the volunteer board of directors, are local, available, and deeply committed to the organization. 2. We invest in our community. With financial aid for families in need and medical aid for lost, stray, wild, and abused animals, we offer nearly half a million dollars in free medical care each year. With 50 years of service to the community, DoveLewis has treated hundreds of thousands of animals and is regularly recognized by community news organizations such as The Portland Business Journal and Willamette Week. 3. We are one of the top hospitals in the country. Individuals from all over the city come to Animal Care Centers every day of the week for reasons as diverse as surrendering pets, reclaiming lost cats and dogs, and adopting new furry family members. We strive to find loving homes for homeless and abandoned cats, dogs, and rabbits, both by adopting animals directly to the public and by partnering with more than 200 dedicated animal placement organizations (our New Hope partners). Our field services division responds to calls from the public to help keep NYC communities safe and rescue animals in need, and we have facilities in all five boroughs.
