Openwave is all about establishing new lines of communication. The company, which developed much of the technology behind the wireless application protocol (WAP) standard, provides software and services used by telecommunications network operators and others to give their customers wireless access to a variety of content and applications. Its products allow service providers to offer e-mail (Email mx), Web navigation, and messaging (MMSC) services to mobile users, as well as to manage data traffic (Smart User Repository). Openwave also offers managed application services and infrastructure software to automate tasks such as billing and services (Integra). Sprint accounts for more than 20% of sales.
