Founded in 1915, Riverside Health has evolved from a small hospital in Newport News, Virginia into a nonprofit healthcare organization. The health system and each major facility in the organization are governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees of community leaders. Riverside employs over 9,000 people in over 100 locations in the Greater Peninsula-Williamsburg region, Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck and the Eastern Shore communities of eastern Virginia.

Nuclear Care Partners was founded in 2011 by two nurses with a true passion for helping former atomic workers receive the highest quality of care. They were inspired by the captivating stories and unbelievable struggles of these sick workers who sacrificed their health and their lives to protect our country and serve in our nation’s nuclear weapons complex. With the dream of making a difference in the lives of this special population, they heeded the calling to raise the standard of care for these atomic heroes and to create an organization focused on quality patient care, strong clinical programs, and positive patient outcomes. Since our inception in 2011, our passion to serve every community in need has led to expansive growth as we serve hundreds of former atomic workers across the nation. We are a community of healthcare professionals that care deeply about a population in need and are fulfilled by being a part of something bigger than ourselves. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to our founding mission—to elevate the standard of care for former nuclear weapons workers through our unique approach to care.

HCA Healthcare founders Dr. Thomas Frist Sr., Dr. Thomas Frist Jr. and Jack Massey envisioned a healthcare company with the scale, resources and clinical expertise to provide care focused on the patient.
