Our beginnings

It began with a vision to serve retiring ministry workers

Originally named Warm Beach Manor and founded by the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Free Methodist Church - our story actually began nearly 10 years before the first residents moved in, when a group of 40 people gathered on the adjoining property to discuss the creation of our sister ministry, Warm Beach Camp. When the first Board members were looking at sites for a family camp, they realized this beautiful forested land would be the perfect place for a retirement community,

“At that time the focus was just the camp. Gradually the conversation moved more and more toward the establishment of a senior home. The idea was to provide affordable housing and community life to retired pastors and missionaries. It would not be exclusive, but the inclusion of these was very important.” - Bob McDowell, youngest member of the Camp search committee, and at the time, a young pastor fresh out of Seattle Pacific University

As neighbors to the camp began to sell their land, property was bought up with the intention of using it for a retirement home. In July 1966, a groundbreaking ceremony was held [pictured] for the construction of a 42-unit apartment complex. Less than a year later, on May 1, 1967, the first residents moved in.

Warm Beach Manor would expand by leaps and bounds over the next few decades. The Health Care Center was added in 1975. The fifty-five unit Village Apartments were added between 1977 and 1979. Manor Estates manufactured home park was built and the first homes arrived in 1980. The Beachwood building, with 29 senior apartments opened in January 1981. In 1996 we opened the Cedar Court assisted living facility. The remodel of the former health care facility in 2023 is our latest project, with memory care arriving in late 2024.

Our community continues to grow and expand in different ways, but our core mission to provide the best possible care for residents, regardless of income level, with an unwavering devotion to God has not changed.

Warm Beach recognizes those who made their milestone anniversaries in 2025. One of the many factors that make Warm Beach a great place to work is it's longevity across all departments. This year we congratulate 55 years of service in total from these 5 amazing staff members! 5 Years: Siri Owen - Program Coordinator for Independent Living Hal House - Security 15 Years: Brenda Spady - Dietary Lead 30 Years: Kelly Cabe - Cook's Assistant We are so thankful to have each of these employees and appreciate the wonderful care they provide to our residents. Our annual All Staff Picnic was so much fun! There's nothing like having fun games, good food, and great company! This year we did a raffle for the staff to win a boat trip out on the Puget Sound! The lucky winner was one of our Housekeepers, Angella! We also had our annual ladder ball tournament. Each department competes and whoever has the highest average score wins. This year our champions were our Facilities department! A special shout out to our Housekeepers who were some of our highest scorers. They definitely helped reign in the trophy! We're always looking forward to next year. :)...Show more

Congratulations to Marissa for being a S.T.A.R. (Someone Totally Awesome Recognized)! Marissa has been with Warm Beach for 2 years now. She started at Warm Beach as a brand new CNA. She has excelled in all she does as a caregiver and has grown immensely. She is now taking on the responsibility as a Med-Tech and working in both our Assisted Living Facility and Memory Care units. You can always guarantee that when you come down the hall, she will have a smile on her face. She is great with the residents, making sure they feel safe and well taken care of.
