Pros

This is a great place to work because of the wonderful work-life balance. There are also many perks/benefits, such as the onsite fitness center and cafeteria and the many company sponsored events. They are also very supportive of you furthering your education, career, and personal development. Good competitive compensation and other benefits (medical, dental, 401K). Also, couldn't ask to work with better people!

Cons

I have only worked here for a few months, but I have nothing to complain about. The only thing is it's a longer commute for me, but my hours are flexible so even that's a non-issue.

Pros

Gym, Subsidized Cafeteria, Film festivals, Extravagant Summer Picnic, Tuition Re-imbursement, Employee Assistant Programs, 401K reimbursement that is fully vested after 2 years, and much more

Cons

The biggest issue with 1-800 Contacts is that moving up is all about who you know and not who is necessarily best suited for the position. Pay could be better as well.

1-800 Contacts Response

We appreciate this associate's tenacity and loyalty to the organization. We appreciate that they recognize the many wonderful things we do for all of our associates to show our appreciation for them. As 1-800 CONTACTS implemented and communicated our strategy for 2014, we shared that vision with each business area, specifically Customer and Compliance. Additionally, the Director of Customer and Compliance conducted an all hands meeting and also met with each group separately. We encourage all of our associates in times of uncertainty and ambiguity to seek out and conduct an effective dialogue with their peers, leadership structure and their human resources representative. In fact, one of the company’s core pillars regarding communication encourages our associates to collaborate effectively in problem analysis and decision making. We also expect our associates to promote and contribute to team effectiveness to accomplish their functional and departmental goals. We have full faith and confidence in our associates’ ability carry through what’s expected of them in regards to communication and expect that this would also apply for this associate.

Pros

- sets clear and high expectations which makes you want to do well - compensation/bonus for selling products and giving great customer service - healthy competition within teams and call center - cool company perks; on site gym, on site cafeteria, free movie tickets, annual summary company party, corporate discounts, tuition reimbursement, and much more - management and sr management is friendly, experienced, and helpful - good training program that teaches you the importance of giving great customer service - everyone is so friendly and outgoing; it's hard not to make friends here - given opportunities to move up or venture to other departments within the company

Cons

- employee retention is high so moving up can take longer - paid time off is accrued at a low rate and is based off years of employment and does not take position within company into consideration
