1-800 CONTACTS is very pleased with our new ownership, T.H. Lee. We are working on some exciting new projects, the biggest being our new building which will be completed in July 2015. We understand change can be scary as we don't know what the future holds, but T.H.Lee is a committed owner of our company and we're excited for the big plans for growth we have for the future. We encourage our associates to discuss their concerns openly and frequently with their supervisors or a Human Resource representative, our doors are always open. We are pleased that this Associate recognized the work-life balance we have as it is a priority for us. In addition, they mentioned the fun work environment, competitive wages and great benefits which continue to make us the great employer we are.

Pros

Gym, cafeteria, flexible hours, awesome employees, game room, free cereal, free bread, free drinks

Cons

I worked there for over 10 years. Was given many awards for doing a great job. I worked hard for the company and was let go, for helping out another employee. I worked from home, so an employee called me to explain to me what she needed help with. While on the phone, she also told me what her kids were up to. They fired us both for avoiding work, without any warnings. Mind you, I had never been on corrective action the whole time I worked there. Also, just a couple of months before this happened, my team leader encouraged me to talk more to my team. Come to find out later, they told my team members a different reason why they fired me. I take pride in my work and put in more than 100% effort. If you don't mind being graded on the words you use, your tone of voice (like you are on helium). and everything you say, then you will love this job. The turn over rate is high, so you are always afraid of loosing your job. I would never recommend this company to any one I care about.

Pros

A lot of opportunities to advance your career, they are the leader in their industry, they are so very flexible with your life outside of work, they have awesome events throughout the year for associates and their families, they treat employees very well, there;s an on-site cafeteria and gym, benefits are pretty good comparably, the list goes on and on...

Cons

Raises come annually which is great, but it's not much more than 3% to cover inflation.
