Pros

There is a full cafeteria of well made and tasty food downstairs at a good price. The insurance benefits are excellent. There's a full gym on the first floor. Free eye exams and discounts on lenses. Fun company events. Flexible-ish hours.

Cons

There is a definite favorite club in management. Moving up is very difficult for this reason. Instead of looking for fresh talent from the staff any vacated position worth taking is almost immediately backfilled by someone who is already in a management role. Their position is often then either backfilled or consolidated. This would be less frustrating if they did not then give feedback in which you are given specific goals and told something to the effect of "If you do these three things I can almost guarantee you an upper level position next time it is available." Another source of irritation is the hours. Overall the system for scheduling works decently. You are able to request individual and unique hours. This makes it very easy to work here and go to school simultaneously. However, once you have a set schedule be prepared to keep it for a long while. The team that manages hours can be difficult to work with and make it seem like a burden when you ask them to for any kind of assistance. This makes it unpleasant to get anything changed or dispute an issue with your time off or scheduling.

Pros

The onsite food, free eye exams and work from home ability are great.

Cons

Management is the worst. They are hired based on who they know and their allegiance to the main directors, NOT their ability to lead. They read our team chats and emails every day so we can't have open and honest communication with our peers. Recently, management received overwhelming feedback from a survey begging for more communication from them. Their answer was to take away the only communication we get regarding our quality auditing and tell us to guess what we did wrong. They also took away our ability to challenge calls that are graded unfairly. They did set up an email box that sends us updates on our own marketing strategies 1-2 a week. If you disagree with an M2 or AD, you will be spied on and a case built against you. Threats and intimidation have become the norm.

Pros

I started at 1-800 CONTACTS over 14 years ago to work as an E-commerce Software Development Lead. I can honestly say that coming to 1-800 CONTACTS was truly the best career decision I've ever made. Management truly cares about the individual, and we treat each other like family here. I've grown more than I ever imagined, and have been empowered to control my career as well as help the company grow. Servicing our customer, and constantly improving their experience, drives everything we do, and is truly the focus of the company. I'm proud to work for such a great company, with such great customer service, and I hope to continue to be here for as long as I can.

Cons

1-800 CONTACTS has always had great success. As the company has grown it has struggled, as any successful company does, with the growing pains and to keep up with the culture and roots the company was founded upon. However, I am always impressed that the company has not stopped seeking ways to improve as we go, heal the growing pains through constant improvement and adjusting as we go, and continues to make this the best place to work.
