If you are thinking about applying here, think twice.

Pros

1. Receiving a paycheck. 2. Learning what not to do in the workplace.

Cons

1010data is an archaic company that has been ravaged by a leadership team that remains satisfied with applying bandage fixes on deeply complex problems that acutely plague and cripple the company -- the most malignant of which is People Ops. Employees suffer at the mercy of this insidious department and their unruly volatility. "Led" by clowns whose days are spent either doing absolutely nothing or raging around the office, this team has wrecked the company's culture and exacerbated their inability to retain quality employees. If you want to feel drained when you go home every night and then want to come in each day to have your hard work exploited, this is the place for you. Do not apply here no matter how beguiling the dangled carrot seems. I promise that you are better off elsewhere both professionally and personally.

Poor management punishes loyalty

Pros

Smart employees - too bad they don't get to utilize their skills to the fullest potential because employee suggestions (especially about new technology and ideas) are often shut down by old school management styles (which is absolutely detrimental for a "tech" company)

Cons

- employee turnover rate is high - pay is lower compared to other companies in the same field - poor and old school management style (doesn't value employee suggestions) -- absolutely detrimental for a "tech" company - does not value employee loyalty (many stories from former coworkers about how they got screwed over when they were trying to do the right thing. For example, long working hours were not paid off just because their supervisors don't favor them, their annual bonuses were taken away because they decided to give 2-weeks notice instead of just walking out with their bonuses, they were promised certain benefits by HR prior to employment but these promises were not kept, a whole team was fired and replaced just a few days before annual bonuses, so not only were they not given the opportunity to be "trained" for the new structure, they were all of a sudden jobless and didn't even get their bonuses...)

Pros

Free coffee, la Croix, and low end granola bars

Cons

Nepotism seeped into every management layer. C suite execs were frat bros? Check. Middle management all went to the same school and graduated same year? Check. A tech company with no tech leadership. Management mostly does not hail from a tech background and probably learned how to code through YouTube. The most egregious one of all: 1010data is a small tech company with a proprietary tech stack. That means its tech is its bread and butter and the company is highly dependent on it to differentiate itself from competitors. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, you just need sound leadership to drive the tech forward. Yet you have a CEO/President who is incapable of writing one line of code in the company's proprietary language (not an exaggeration) and is completely oblivious to what 1010 needs in order to survive. Could you imagine if DJT45 didn't speak English? It's that bad.
