Pros
- The people are what make 1010data awesome. Everyone is brilliant, passionate, and willing to help others outside of their team if they have relevant expertise. People often get together outside of work for various activities. These are the type of people you want to work with. - Most of the work revolves around solving academically interesting problems. - The company's technology is best in class - Company growth has been increasing year over year for a long time. - The compensation and benefits are top notch for a company of this size. - The corporate culture is centered around keeping employees happy. There is a lot of free food in the kitchen (fresh fruit, beef jerky, nuts, cereal, etc.). There are a bunch of recreational table games (pool, foosball, ping pong, shuffle board). We have regular corporate sponsored activities (happy hours, bowling night, a multi-day annual retreat, etc.). People are often at the office late, not because they're crunching to meet a deadline, but because they enjoy being here. - The company is a meritocracy, if you're good at what you do you will be rewarded. There's lots of room for personal growth and career advancement, but only if you are a go getter.
Cons
- The company's personnel growth often outstrips desk space. We'll move into a new office or complete construction on an existing office, only to find six months down the line that people are beginning to pile up again. - Management is not transparent about a lot of things. From salary to what's happening in certain parts of the business. Effort has been put in to improve in this area, but more work needs to be done. - Many parts of the business are very silo-ed and some teams are territorial about their products. At times this means you "just have to wait" for someone else to get something done.
