Pros

I've worked for a lot of similarly sized companies in a the same capacity and I have to say this is an all around great place to work. Not many publicly held billion dollar companies retain any sense of personality yet somehow 2K pulls it off. We are in a great office in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. We put out great products and I feel we are fairly compensated. Upper management is very approachable and there is a laid back atmosphere. The team here is passionate, fun and hard working. What's even more shocking is the overall lack of ego. I'm sure some current employees might read that and laugh. Yes, like all places there are some egos, politics and other nonsense but again for a company this sized, those are the exception and not the norm. The NYC based corporate office takes a somewhat hands off approach and the CEO is a pretty straight shooter who communicates with us, invites us to investor calls etc. I like to keep tabs on that and know where the company is going. I sleep better at night knowing we aren't getting laid off tomorrow. The less surprises the better in this industry! The Gaming industry is very well known for it's long hours but I think this is the most balanced I've seen. Def more than your average non gaming job but not as bad as some of the horror stories we've all heard. 2K has a solid lineup and a solid footing in an otherwise shaky industry. Is it the perfect place? Of course not but its light years ahead of most and if you have been in the business long enough you'll learn to appreciate the good instead of nitpicking and trying to find the bad. Fortune cookie wisdom? Nope. Experienced advice. I've recommended several friends to apply for positions here and they all seem happy as well.

Cons

Normally these wouldn't be real issues but bc of our proximity to Silicon Valley there are some regular complaints that there aren't enough perks such as free breakfasts etc. Personally I think anything beyond your paycheck is a bonus. We have plenty of perks but like any other job, people don't always appreciate them. Yes, there are other companies that offer more alluring perks but there are plenty of other companies that have no perks at all. There are endless raffles, swag, parties and activities offered here but if you really want the free yoga class, you might want to apply elsewhere. It's a competitive field and I feel 2K does a good job without going overboard. The location in the North Bay isn't ideal but on the upside we have plenty of parking.

Pros

It's a job. There are good games in the lineup but those are all externally developed.

Cons

Health care is expensive and not comprehensive. Internal development is run by managers out of touch with actually doing work and with a lack of understanding of the creative process.
