Pros

I do not have good things to say.

Cons

Working at 2nd Street negatively impacted my wellbeing and mental health. I was a PART-TIME buyer because I am pursuing higher education / freelance work outside of 2nd Street. Unfortunately, this did not matter to my store manager. Buyers were forced to stay later than they were scheduled if buys weren’t finished for the day. They received disciplinary action if they didn’t stay behind. Additionally, the store manager purposely kept the total amount of buyers low (2 for the store max) in order to know who to “blame” in case things not up to standard were bought in. Though I can understand this, it was taxing on buyers to work full shifts and STILL be forced to stay after against our scheduled shifts. There’s no grace periods for shift/lunch clock-ins — even if you’re in the store and at the punch-in tablet, if you clock in one second late, then it tallies towards potential termination. This is across all stores if I’m not mistaken. When I communicated I was not available for inventory day because I had class + outside work, I was simply told that I “had” to be there, and if I “had bigger priorities” outside of my job as a buyer, then a re-evaluation of my job title may be necessary. I believe that if I’m BY CHOICE a part-time employee, then yes — I have bigger priorities. I think this company is predatory, doesn’t pay their employees enough, and constantly stacks on more tasks to the job role without adjusting pay. In a single month, we lost 4 employees because of the poorly-managed and hostile work environment. I do not recommend working here, and though I’m sure work environments vary from place to place, I wanted to at least share my experience.

Pros

buying cool items occasionally because of the area

Cons

- ran by a bunch of 20 year old boys who treat the store like their own club - every single female staff was treated unfairly by management and fellow employees - male associates would make inappropriate jokes relating to assault when speaking about female customers - male associates were barely reprimanded for the same things female associates were fired for - female associates were told repeatedly after hire they would never move up in the company, while their male counterparts were promoted overnight - corporate and HR knows they have a huge issue with the treatment of female staff however they will brush it under the rug - FAKE DESIGNER!! they know it's fake too don't spend your money here - sexual harassment of female employees - drinking and smoking during breaks so if the employees seem barely coherent while helping you thats why - worst experience i've had in customer service if you are a woman please for your own mental health do not work here they will treat you horribly and then try to backdoor you

Pros

Really cool work environment, awesome team. Flexible hours for school

Cons

Hours are a bit too flexible, slow months can leave part timers really low on hours.
