Pros

This is a legitimate online work-from-home opportunity. This start-up company uses voice recognition software to capture transcripts that are used for closed captioning. They use editors to "clean up" those transcripts. If you have excellent grammar and punctuation skills, this is the perfect job for you! You can work as much or as little as you want as long as the work is available. Once you send your resume and are invited to take the training, you will go through a series of training videos. After each video, you are given an exercise based on the video you just reviewed using 3Play guidelines, all of which is open book. After you have completed the exercise, your work is evaluated. If it is acceptable, you will move on to the next lesson. If you make it through all the videos, you're in!

Cons

Work is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so you are competing with other editors for work at times. Also, as with most production work, there's usually a feast-or-famine phase. You can go a week or so with more work than you can do. Then it may be quiet for a few days with nothing much to do. So it's difficult to predict how much money you can make each month because it can vary. You're also only paid monthly. If you're just looking for supplementary income though, this shouldn't be a problem.

Pros

Very interesting and occasionally challenging work editing transcripts on a wide variety of topics. Excellent opportunity to refine your editing skills and also learn a great deal. Feedback from QA is extremely helpful and supportive.

Cons

Volume of work can be sporadic, but has definitely grown exponentially during my time as an editor. This work is best used as a supplement to other employment you may have. If not an extremely fast typist, more difficult transcripts can take longer than the compensation merits.

Pros

Complete flexibility as to where, when and how to perform the work. Quick turnaround with QA feedback after each project is completed. Opportunities to learn while working on projects from major businesses and educational institutions. Satisfaction knowing the work is contributing to the development of better voice-recognition software. Personal contact with 3Play management that gives the feeling that we are all part of the same team. Particularly fast typists can potentially make $15-25 per hour equivalent.

Cons

If one is not a particularly fast typist, it is extremely difficult to exceed even Minimum Wage level. Work availability is "Feast or Famine"; weeks can pass without any projects being made available. Not all of the available work is necessarily appealing.
