Where to begin…
Your experience at 7-Eleven really depends on your direct manager—if you have a great leader, it can be a positive environment; if not, it can be incredibly frustrating. Unfortunately, the broader corporate culture doesn’t prioritize employee well-being. There’s little focus on retention or culture, and annual layoffs are a recurring theme—often followed by backfilling the same roles months later.
Over the years, benefits have been steadily reduced without transparent communication. Bonuses and raises were withheld with no explanation or discussion, which was incredibly demotivating.
From an operational standpoint, implementation is chaotic. Systems and processes are constantly being changed, yet the replacements are often more flawed than the originals. New tools or platforms are rolled out with little training or support—and often don’t function properly to begin with.
There’s a growing sense that leadership is more focused on self-preservation than on building a sustainable, employee-focused organization. A change in executive leadership might honestly be what’s needed to course-correct and bring in people who genuinely care.
