The customer interactions are really the only thing that gets me through the day. The jokes we share, the stories they tell me about their kids, etc.
Cons
When hired I was told I would work 45 hours a week, 5 days a week, with occasional weeks where I worked 50. The reality - I've worked an average of 63 hours a week since the first week I started. I'll typically work 11-13 days in a row, between 9 and 16 hours a day, before I have a day off. And on my day off I'm bombarded with text messages and phone calls. Upper management is too involved in the day to day operations, going as far as firing employees without consulting me first, and expecting me to cover the shifts. Because 90% of my time is spent running a register, it is IMPOSSIBLE to perform my role as a store leader. I feel like this company has set me up to fail, and there is no support. I take pride in my work, and I have NEVER had a job like this before where my success feels purposely handicapped. I go home every day feeling like I have accomplished nothing, and it's seriously affecting me mentally and physically.
