Working for a Robot

Pros

You meet a lot of new people and have the ability to network yourself through many companies.

Cons

Pay is very low, bonuses are a joke. I was moved to 8 different stores within 15 months to "bring them back to 7Eleven standards." No recognition, you do not feel a part of a team. Cutthroat environment because 7Eleven is completely dead set on franchising all of their stores. They tell you they need and want you as an employee but do nothing to help you grow. As a store manager, they tried to sell me on buying my own franchise on 6 different occasions within a 18 month period. Field Consultants are all new employees and rarely to find an FC that has been with the company for more than 2 years at most.

Pros

You get a Great business experience, they do have very good business tools and they are an industry leader.

Cons

It used to be a great place...everyone aligned to make the franchisees successful. Then they had the bright idea to bring in refugees from other failed c store concepts who had no idea on how to work with franchisees fairly. It has become a very "what have yoo done for me lately" with no respect for tenure or past accomplishments...thinking that everyone except the senior execs are replaceable. It's a shame that they have no 7-Eleven soul left....The Thompson Brothers must be spinning in their graves...

Pros

Experience with a variety of customers. Fast paced environment. Free Slurpees. Interesting if often repetitive work.

Cons

Owner was a downright jerk. Rude customers. Carding people you know aren't if age and having them get angry when you refuse a sale.
