Pros

Worked for 84 Lumber for 5 years. Good place to get some experience for your resume, learn a lot of valuable skills. Potential to earn good money if your in a thriving market. If you work hard, your likely to succeed. If your willing to relocate and move around, you can make a career.

Cons

Can be too many hours for mediocre pay. Can make the same or more with a 40 hour/week job. Benefits really are not great, healthcare is expensive. Vacation "block scheduling" is terrible. Get with the times, allow an employee to take 2-3 days off if they want. If your in a slow market or working in a small store, you will not make a ton of money. Work life balance isn't great, when your working 55 hours or So a week. Working in sales, sometimes work comes home with you, which really kills work life balance. Having customers call you until 8-9pm at night and even Sunday morning before 7am is a headache. Can be hard to get away from work

Pros

Flexibility of scheduling. Work environment. Insurance is a good provider. Profit sharing again. Networking with vendors and builders provides greater growth opportunities.

Cons

Work environment. Hours worked. Overtime is mandatory. If short staffed you will work all the time. Slow season when it gets cold, building slows down and your pay check will suffer due to smaller/no bonuses.

Pros

Consistent paycheck, great benefits available

Cons

Paycheck. Management. If you aren't in a high selling store, be prepared to not make any bonuses they promise you, be prepared to do a lot of work for the outside sales rep's customers, and get absolutely no credit for it. This job is nothing more than being a glorified cashier.
