Pros

All positions within the company are generally underpaid. Management is loose at best and overall unqualified to lead. Really no Pros to speak of.

Cons

Lack of qualification within upper management. Rash decisions, direction changes each month. 'Make the month' mentality. Dishonestly within middle management is a regular.

Our Manager Trainee position is an entry level position. In this role we challenge our Associates to show their leadership potential, and their drive to succeed. When we see this, we know that they have what it takes to move up with the company. Also, every year we evaluate the bonus structure and the quota structure to make sure they are fair and consistent. If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to contact Human Resources at hr@84lumber.com.

Pros

There is a lot of room for career growth if you are willing to relocate.

Cons

The work life balance is all work and very little life. The customer comes first, which puts money in your pocket; but at what cost to your family.

Training is a core part of employee development here at 84. We want to make sure we give our employees all the opportunities available to aid in their personal development. We do this by providing classroom training at our Team Headquarters location as well as through our online learning system called Brainshark. Also, we have an Early Development Program in place for Manager Trainees if they would like to pursue a career in store management, a training for Manager Trainees that would like to pursue a Sales career, and a 3 day training for our Yard Person position.
