IT Department has more VPs & Directors than staff

Pros

Popcorn & Movies. Cool people. Security in front is really nice. Benefits are decent.

Cons

There are more VPs, Directors, Senior Directors, Assistant Directors, and Director's Directors than actual staff to do the work. Everyone's EGO in IT is flying high. The number of meetings for everything are a MAJOR productivity slowdown. Who actually does the work since everyone is in meetings? Nothing gets done because half of IT Dept is in meetings, then there is the follow up meeting, then the pre meeting to the next meeting. I mean you would think this place had 200,000 employees. The perception of the ENTIRE company is that IT basically sucks, and the management just yells at the staff, threatens their jobs instead of developing them. 15 year employees just being let go without proper replacement etc. I mean I could go on

Pros

Company culture feels like a smaller company with corporate formalities to make life easy, open door policy in almost all departments, friendly staff, lots of free food

Cons

Unless you're a VP or above, the company makes it clear that they will not invest in your growth unless you're a favorite of the higher level executives. Inadequate pay gaps, freelancers performing jobs that are not project-based stay on for way too long without becoming staff
