Pros
A.O. Smith has many facilities and each are fairly unique. The facility I work in, is air conditioned even on the manufacturing floor. The people are great and in general everyone is respectful of each other and happy. Our facility is also immaculate and spotless, one of the cleanest manufacturing facilities I have ever worked in. Although there are some exceptions, the pay for most positions in at the median for this area and where it isn't the management team is working on making adjustments. There is also a generous bonus / profit sharing plan that hasn't failed to pay out to the employees in 30+ years. The management team in this facility does their very best to make decisions that benefit the majority of the workforce. Work life balance is something that is important to management. In the office area, it's rare to see many people working past an 8 hour day or on weekends. In the plant, it depends on sales demand, but the management team tries to make accommodations when certain product lines are very busy.
Cons
I really have no meaningful negative things to say, after working in the automotive industry for 20 years I still can't believe places like this exist. The only thing that is frustrating at times is that being part of a large corporation the wheels of change turn slowly, but they do turn, you just have to be patient.
