Pros

I believe in the mission, great colleagues, offer really good benefits, and support work-life balance.

Cons

Highly matrixed organization, decisions take to long, everyone needs to approve, but no one wants to own the responsibility. There are a lot of "isms" that take place.

Pros

Protecting older Americans; AARP is only NGO strong enough to protect social security and medicare. Great salaries and benefits.

Cons

Inwardly focused; staff at all levels from analysts to senior executives are very focused on protecting their own jobs because of the great salaries and benefits. Organization spends more time and energy and meetings on its revenue and membership than it does on policy and advocacy designed to protect those same members.
